My conversation with Mr. Pearl
Dear Shaded Viewers,
Mr. Pearl is one of those rare people that does not believe in computers, e mail or mobile phones. If you want to commission a corset, leave a message on his telephone, speak very fast and give only essential information. You can pass your message to him via my site.
Later,
Diane
If you would like to contact Mr. Pearl please send him a fax: fax: +33 1 53 10 85 62.

Hi Diane
I am a jewellery design masters student at Central Saint Martin. My work is about possession of the body. I am writing a theses on the effects of new technology and mass production on original design. If Mr Pearl would answer a few questions about his work, it would help me enormously.
The course director will be writing to you to support my request.
Thank you for your help.
Best wishes

I am about to start my 2nd year of a HND Fashion course, and i am starting my dissertation soon. I am looking at the medical factors of wearing corsets and how technology has advanced this etc. It would be extremely helpful if you could send me a telephone number/email address so that i could contact Mr Pearl and ask him personally about why he wears his corsets and if it has affetced/ helped his health etc.
Thanx

Thank you very much for postng this letter from the elusive Mr Pearl. He is such a treasured inspiration to all us corset-makers. He's such a wonderful and charming man, and hope that I can be as good at making corsets as him one day - I'll keep holding my breath.

Dear Diane,
I wondered if you could pass me on details so i can write to Mr Pearl? He's probably really busy but its worth a try.
I am from Scotland and im just starting out in corsetry, i have been making corsets and designing patterns for about 2 years and feel like the corset business is not very friendly. No-one wants to help and if no-one helps all these amazing corsets are going to be lost. We new and young designers need help and guidance not shunned and thought of as copy cats. I am really trying to make my corsets my own.
Hope you can help
Thanks very much

Dear Diane
I would be incredibly grateful if you could pass this message on to Mr Pearl for me... And thank you for offering us the opportunity to message him via your website.

Dear Mr Pearl
I am a third year journalism student studying in Surrey and am currently working on my final major project - a highbrow glossy publication with the superseding theme of sex within fashion. I am exploring the links between the two subjects through feature articles and photoshoots; demonstrating the illustrious eroticism of clothing and the sexualisation of fashion in general.
I would love the opportunity to interview yourself as one of the most magnificent corset makers (and wearers) of our generation. I would take up but 10 minutes of your precious time, and am happy to speak to you over the telephone if you would perhaps prefer this to a face-to-face meeting?
Please let me know if this is at all possible. I have my heart set on producing a fantastic interview piece based on your wonderful life and work.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Dear Mr. Pearl,
Odds and Ends is a new Berlin based fashion publication with international contributors, launching next month (March 2008). We would like to write a feature on you and your work, as the theme of the first issue is collector's items, tradition and the body. If it would be possible to interview you or receive any information from you for this article, we would be very honoured.
Kindest regards,
Fiona Bryson
