HYERES 2007 CATWALK
Dear Shadies and Shadettes,
As it may have occurred to the most dedicated of you, we haven't released yet our annual Hyeres Fashion Festival film thingy, and though we did make daily, on-the-spot video podcasts during the festival, there's nothing quite as satisfying as a full-length feature.
That full-length feature, codename "HYEROGLYPH", which Diane and I have been toiling on, is sitting in a cozy spot on a hard drive, awaiting a few finishing touches, the last key elements yet to be handed in by some collaborators (you know who you are). So it is very near completion, and hopefully it is only a matter of days before we release it.
And let us say, in all modesty, that once we do release it, it will be nothing short of brilliant.
So to help you wait a bit more, and a sort of end of year treat, I thought you may want to have a look at the properly edited Hyeres 2007 Catwalk shows, showing you the work of all 10 designers in competition at the last edition. Diane was in Hyeres just 2 weeks ago, along with Haider Ackermann and Maida, working on the pre-selection of the designers for the next edition.
Enjoy,
Antoine

Christian Lacroix talks about his exhibit at the Villa Noailles and he tells us what really went on behind the closed doors
Dear Shaded Viewers,
We all wanted to be there when Christian Lacroix discovered his installation at the Villa Noailles for the first time. Some background information about the exhibit - Christian opened up his archives in Paris to Christian Rizzo and David Dubois in order for them to interpret their vision of the world of Mr. Lacroix so that they could create his installation at the 22nd edition of the festival d'Hyeres. Christian gave them a carte blanche .
When the 2nd half of the interview was shot, the winners had just been announced. Under normal circumstances you never really hear what goes on behind the closed doors.

Dear Shaded Viewers,
I just walked in the door from Amsterdam and found these lovely images from Jean Pierre Blanc, the director of the festival d'Hyeres.
Noone wanted the 22nd edition to come to an end. Now is the time to start thinking about preparing your portfolios for the 23rd edition....

P.S. Antoine Asseraf has created a channel for A Shaded View on youtube. You can watch the last videos on Hyeres http://youtube.com/ashadedview It could be a good idea if you put the link to the Channel in your film links.

Can I just tell you how much respect I have for this man? Here he is visiting each of the designers installations and speaking with them about their work. Two days before his couture show this past January he spent the entire day on the jury making the final selection for the 10 designers competing in the 22nd edition of the festival d'Hyeres.

Day 4 Hyeres
Dear Shaded Viewers,
Today the photographers arrived. The designers did practice runs for their presentations today with the jury.
My first stop was a visit to the Rose room to see last seasons photography winner Jaap Scheeren's images that were commissioned by the festival. Each Jean Pierre Blanc asks one of the photograhers from the season before to give their vision of Hyeres.

All photographs above are by Jaap Scheeren
Then off to visit Marc Turlan's installation
