DP: I am a huge fan of James Turrell, did you work with him, if so, what was that like?
EC: I’m a huge fan too ! Nooo! I did not work WITH James Turrell!! However I went to Japan to experience “House of Light” and “Minamidera House ”
“House of Light”is a total work of art, experiencing pure light.
PM 18:24is sunset. Roof opens… I lay down, look at the sky, listen to space. Notion of time does not exist anymore… progressively, light variations, monochromes, nature switches off, temperature changes, silence installs itself, dense and heavy…
Am 3:47 is sunrise. The reversed way.
In Minamidera House (collaboration Turell / Ando) the Moon light experience is equivalent. Like a distortion. Impossible to describe (it has no interest in fact). You just have to experience it for yourself.
DP: Which of your pieces is in the permanent collection of Mac Museum in Marseille?

EC: Cabines (the piece is composed of 3 architectural structures made in white lacquered CONTREPLAQUE) translated in terms of volume, the weight of 2,4 and 6 people.

IN-TO Exposition Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations Paris
DP: Can you describe some of your ‘installations architecture sonores’ How do you work with sound and space?
EC: Space-Architecture is the engine of my work. I design and realize installations, sounded architectures through, depending on its singularity and properties, (In-To (Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations Paris), Solo (Le Parvis Centre d’Art Contemporain), Trip (Gal LABF15 Lyon), Instigation (Villa Noaïlles)…) complementarities, modification, prolongation, extension, reduction… Therefore my installations give birth to tangent spaces, building a singular link with body where image (projection) and sound (diffusion) equally contribute to raise the question of individual responsibility. Senses are mobilized within all their acuity for a total engagement of the being.
The image opens up in a confessional and repetitive way, while the sound, over amplified or almost inaudible, always searches for an improbable ear : blowing, whispers, rustlings. Outside the body, it stops still nowhere, like a haunting refrain.
DP: When you are working, is it in silence or do you prefer to have audio in the background, and if so what do you like to listen to?
EC: France Inter / France Culture / silence.
I confess swirling on Ravi Shankar, collapsing with “ i talk to the trees » by Chet Baker, getting hysterical at the first notes of Thurston Moore, dive into memories with Tom Waits and Patti Smith,, be unleashed on Kylie Minogue, , savor Vivladi’s Stabat Mater , vibrate with Tom Willems, sing at the top of my voice with Dave Gahan…
DP: You’ve been born and raised in Paris how does that effect the way you see light and life?
EC:I'm a city girl who needs nature. I sometimes miss the light and wind of Marseilles.
I like to walk in Paris.
DP: Do you like to drink tea? If so what kind and do you have a favorite tea salon in Paris?
EC: Yes, Bancha, Sencha, Matcha in the workshop up until noon. I drink decaffeinated coffees in terrasses, no fixed HQ, I prefer change, discover.
DP: What do you like to eat? Any special restos that you want to recommend?
EC: « Silk Tofu Demeter Taifun » …« what else! »
I am « sojaddict ».

DP: What comes next? Dreams for the future?
EC: I am presently working on putting together Twilight then shooting Instinct.
I am looking for an editor to whom I would like to propose the publishing of the MMM081004 catalogue. I am also thinking of a little edition gathering my diary/journeys carnets of the “Nightingale/Resonance/Twilight” projects.
In September 2008 Show Studio Nick Knight in London will show the video 0044260107, exhibition in Marseill of the Frac Paca de Ensembles de maquettes et videos collection.
Program 2009 and 2010 of MMM081004 (collection Fonds national d’art contemporain) in Asia and Russia.
Perspective awaiting to be confirmed.
My dream ?
Space to think over again and again.
Being able to work on “De/construction” of Maison Martin Margiela
Being able to work the notion of Rick Owens' black
To always challenge myself.
