Bill Cunningham receives la Legion d'Honneur
Dear Shaded Viewers,

Bill Cunningham at the shows
Long before the Sartorialist and the Face Hunter there was Bill Cunningham. I remember him from the first dress that I ever designed. He was there with a sparkle in those bright blue eyes. Decades later he is as enthusiastic about fashion as he was back then. I was not invited to the service today but my friend Marco de Rivera was and sent the image below to me. I took the one above.
Earlier this year Bergdorf Goodman's celebrated him. Bill can often be seen on 57th St. and 5th ave with his camera.
The French Minister of Culture gave Bill la Légion d'honneur. Didier Grumbach, the President of the Chambre Syndicale above his pinning the metal onto Bill.
Congratulations Bill and thank you for documenting our times.
Later,
Diane

Congratulations to Bill, one of the sweetest people I had the honour to meet in the fashion world.
