Holiday Viewing curated by Miguel Villalobos

Dear Shaded Viewers,
My friend Miguel sent me these links. I've always loved Ed Wood. Keeps my mind off of the fact that I'd love to murder the useless tech person at my server who now says that we have to wait until I receive the proof that my registered letter to them has been received by me. WHat is that about? How to waste 2 or 3 more days? Anyway, enjoy the films, I have.

Ed Wood by Tim Burton

Thanks Miguel, Later, Diane

yes, thanks, miguel! what a fantastic set of clips! once the second bela started, i was just laughing like a madwoman--"living like an ANIMAL!" the music in the first silent bela clip was gorgeous. do you know it?

the interview and clips of maila nurmi were a great tribute. it was wonderful to see her older, wrapped in her shiny veil and cracking great jokes about orson. it made me think that to have lived a great life, afterward, when one loses health, teeth, there are so many great memories to fall back on. (hopefully, one can avoid alzheimers.) it's almost (but not quite) as good as having lived it. but for those who come after us, the retelling is so enriching, and the reteller sets up a special relationship with her/his audience. it's a great comfort to think such things lol. (even to live them)

i watched the first clip last (ed wood, a favorite), and it just tied it all together because now i knew WHY vampira had been fired, there was great tie in with orson welles from the earlier clips, and at this point i was laughing to tears. (i'm exhausted now...) of course, depp was pure genius, but wasn't bill murray great, too? "how about glitter? when i headlined in paris, the audience always liked it when i sparkled..." too great!

must rest now lol before i move on to (o so many) other clips. great choices, revelations for me. thanks. :>>))
