A visit with Eatable of Many Orders

P1310058

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I went to visit the presentation of the collection eatable of many orders designed by the husband and wife  team, Koji and Yoko Arai in downtown Tokyo. I made a series of what I thought were nice little sound bytes with my FLIP about their lovingly made collection and I thought that I had saved all the videos on my computer and opted for the erase once saved manipulation that I will never use again, and....all is lost.

They started out making beautiful sculpted handbags with wooden frames and hand made handles that then developed into a collection that included clothing for both men and women. Koji likes to work with wood and hangers are a bit of an obsession with him. The bags in the same way that one would sculpt wood. They look like they would be heavy but actually they are light. Yoko and Koji live in the countryside and their respect for nature and the planet is evident in all they do. Their bags and clothing designs have a soul, something fairly rare in this business. THis season they collaborated with Peter Jensen on his Greenland collection. They were a bit surprised when I told them that Peter has received death threats because of his Greenland inspired boots.
