Dear Shaded Viewers,

I received a phone call today from my friend Roxanne Lowit asking me if I wanted to meet her at her friends', Gerard Uferas, exhibition at the Maison Europeenne de  la Photographie. I met Gerard years ago through Roxanne and had enjoyed his exhibition at the Union Centrale des arts decoratifs in 2001, so there was no convincing necessary.

Gerard Uferas is a Parisian who started his phototography career woking with Liberation in 1984, in 1986 he was one of the founders of l'agence VU and in addition to his photo journalism he also has worked in publicity. This retrospective is grouped into 3 series, one Un fantome a l'Opera (1988-2001) where he shoots back stage at theatres in Europe. L'Etoffe des reves (2000) backstage at fashion shows and Un pas vera les etoiles (2003-2005) on the ballet at the national opera in Paris.
