GEORGETTE KONING ON ARNHEM MODE BIENNALE
This afternoon the Dutch Queen to be Princess Máxima opened the Arnhem Mode Biennale by cutting a very long satin ribbon. Tacky, but nicely done.
Among many activities there is a wunderful fashion exhibition with clothes and installations by about 80 designers from all over. Lanvin, Proenza Schouler, Thom Brown, Viktor & Rolf, Kei Kagami, Stephen Jones, Boudicca, Rick Owens, Klavers van Engelen, Rodarte, Comme des Garcons. The design of the exhibition itself is stunning with elevated wooden houses inside and outside the ancient cathedral of Arnhem on the Rhine.
It's open till July 6th and only one hour by train from Amsterdam www.arnhemmodebiennale.com.
Her royal highness Princess Máxima (dressed in an outfit made of old Dutch mailbags by
couturier Jan Taminiau) opens the exhibition.
Right: Piet Paris, Biennale's artistic director, dressed by Francisco van Benthum.
Christopher Kane, Jil Sander and Maison Martin Margiela (on the table)
Lanvin designs and Calvin Klein.
Giambattista Valli.
Rick Owens.

Left: a shot from Viktor & Rolfs hologram movie (almost real when you see it live) showing their Swarovski dress. Right: V&R picked recordcompany owner and tv-juror Stacey Rookhuizen as their holomodel . Here she's standing next to stylist/model Jean Paula.
Briljant installation of Dutch designduo Klavers van Engelen
Stephen Jones' hats 'grow' inside the cathedral, amazing.
And look what a surprise: the master garderner himself, Stephen Jones - Hi Diane!
Jose Castro
Spijkers & Spijkers, right miniature dolls by Anna Heylen from Belgium. Mattijs.
Lost donkey. Mountain of shoes from amongst others Kei Kagami and Jan Jansen.
Peter Hornstein
Fountain dress by Kei Kagami and there's much more to see.
Friday June 12th Diane will be presenting her filmfestival in the Eusebius cathedral.
