MY VISIT WITH VIRGINIA BATES AT HER WEST LONDON ANTIQUE CLOTHING STORE - VIRGINA
Yesterday I had a lovely meeting with the eclectic Virginia Bates at her West London antique clothing store called Virginia. During London Fashion week last month I spotted her at the Vogue.com 15 year anniversary party and then again at the Love party a week later. I finally went up to her at the Love party and started chatting with her as she always seemed to look so interesting and I sensed she had a great energy about her. She told me about her store and I mentioned that I was currently looking for some pieces for the film that I am getting ready to direct . She invited me to the store for a chat and to check out some pieces.
The beautiful and intelligent Virginia and her store have been at the same Holland Park address for over 40 years across from Julie's Wine Bar. The store as you can see from the quick video tour she gave me, is an amazing collection of beautiful pieces from 1890 to 1940s.
If you are in London I highly recommend you visit the store as Virginia has created a very special world inside her shop. Virginia also has a blog on British Vogue which you can follow here.
