LOOKK Launches Social Fashion Platform to Connect Up-and-Coming Designers with Consumers
LOOKK is the brainchild of Tamas Locher, Andreas Klinger and Gilbert Wedam, who formerly founded Garmz, last year’s winner of European micro seed fund, Seedcamp. As the original concept evolved to encompass a broader proposition and superior product, the team chose to rebrand with a name and style that better reflected the platform.
LOOKK aims to fundamentally change the way young designers and labels enter the fashion market by providing a platform for them to showcase their designs to a community of fashion-lovers, all of whom have the opportunity to feedback on what they love and directly influence the items that are produced for sale within the LOOKK Webshop.
By providing an open network for designers to engage directly with consumers, LOOKK gives every new fashion graduate or aspiring designer the chance to be discovered and become successful on their own merits, making visible a section of the industry that has tough entry barriers to overcome. In turn, consumers are able to purchase unique, authentic garments in the knowledge they are supporting young, fresh talent.
Andreas Klinger, co-founder and COO of LOOKK, said: “Until now fashion has been a slow adopter of technology. LOOKK aims to change this by connecting new designers with consumers online and harnessing the power of social networks to give both groups a voice.
“Social media has completely changed how new fashion gets discovered. New trends and names now surface more often and quicker than retail and production cycles can adapt to. This leaves an untapped potential of new designers with proven demand but no ‘first steps’ to market – LOOKK provides a solution for this.”
Designers can upload a single design or showcase an entire collection with each item having the potential to be discovered. By garnering support from the LOOKK community as well as their own social networks, they can increase their level of exposure and in turn, have the opportunity to be identified by an expert fashion panel who, using data to estimate market demand, will ultimately choose which items are put into production. Once selected, LOOKK is responsible for the high-quality manufacturing, distribution and disbursement of the pieces, including all associated costs.
“LOOKK felt to me like the natural evolution for technology in fashion – something I wanted to explore following Net-a-Porter,” commented Carmen Busquets. “Its power is in its ability to help designers start and, crucially, sustain their fashion career – not only paying them a commission on their designs, but also covering production costs and helping them to market themselves.
“The detailed market data available through LOOKK means we can predict demand for pieces much more efficiently than with a traditional model. This, coupled with shorter production cycles, means we can produce smaller, demand-driven, batches - significantly reducing waste, and therefore costs.”

SILENCIO opened in Paris tonight
You were not allowed to take photos tonight, the mystery continues...drink tickets in my hands, I recommend the Skinny, one of the none alcholic cocktails. Delicious and I had a very attentive barman who served me at least 3 Skinny's during the evening. Made with Elderflower and mint.
Silencio will be a members only club from 18h - midnight and midnight to 6 am it is open to the public. Arnaud Frisch is the manager of the Social Club and it was his idea to open a members only club in an abandoned printing plant located 3 flights under ground level. The Silencio universe was imagined and conceived by David Lynch.
You can read my article on SILENCIO in the upcoming issue of ZOO Magazine.
I was just sent this stolen moment at Silencio with Rain Laurent

Marco de Rivera reports on Monsieur Maud Molyneux
Aesthetic, dandy ... if not now hackneyed epithets, they define perfectly the life and work of Marc Raynal, who in many pen names, (Maud Molyneux, Louella Interim, Dora Forbes), a led for almost ten years the fashion pages and cinema release along with Serge Daney, Michel and Gerard Lefort Cressole. Maud Molyneux's pen is unique, fantastic fashion writer, probably the best after Proust, it is also an ardent film buff, celebrating with love, far from the theoretical excesses of criticism, the big Hollywood style in refined classicism.
Great critic, Maud Molyneux was also a personality as engaging as fascinating: both erudite non-standard ("we did not know when we phoned Maud," now show his friends), a pillar of the Paris night of the 70 , passionate about fashion and costume history. Read Maud Molyneux / Louella Interim today is a real rediscovery, that of one of the last great cultural feathers of the press.
"One day a very young man, bearded, wearing tight jeans, ponytail and shirt printed double troubling John Lennon. The next day in a miniskirt black bun and thigh. And always unfiltered Gauloises corner of the lips. He spoke of him in the masculine and the feminine was called, sometimes the reverse. Louella, The Maud, Marc, Dora, if you prefer. Be a fierce and refined, like a Brummel, had made his life a work of art. "(Gérard Lefort, Libération, September 18, 2009).
This book offers an anthology of his articles on cinema (from Bette Davis to Pasolini, from Blade Runner to Douglas Sirk, Louella Interim covers all genres with a unique look) and fashion (Yves Saint-Laurent, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Madame Grès, Chantal Thomas ... he has analyzed all known and their style).
In the first part, the book discusses the background and the personality of this dandy from another century, giving voice to those who knew or worked with him. Serge Toubiana, Gérard Lefort, Adeline Andre, Pascal Thomas paint a funny and touching portrait of their friend.
