"For this collection I was strongly influenced by the textile sculptures from the 1970′s and specifically the macramé-technique. That was the starting point to construct pieces of clothing out of cord and yarn, straight from the body and using only one type of knot. I started with the blue cape and during the knotting process I discovered the endless possibilities of this technique. This made it feel as personal as handwriting and gave me an enormous inspiration boost for the different pieces. The collection consists of 12 complex and labour intensive pieces in total, sometimes completely knotted and sometimes the macramé is integrated in the garments. The big beige cape is most of all pieces a concept piece, a complete silhouette created out of threads and cords, as a shell that covers and shows the body at the same time. My main focus is to find the daring symbiosis between the handcrafted pieces and the minimalistic pure designs of the garments, as the futuristic image of an old technique." Jantine
