A Day in Kyoto by Akiko Hamaoka
Dear Diane, Dear Shaded Viewers,
On the way back from my dad's place, I stopped by my favorite city, Kyoto for 2 nights. Maybe some of the shaded viewers will visit Kyoto over holidays - I thought to give you some tips to visit.
If you are Japanese garden lovers, you should visit Mirei Shigemori Garden Museum.Mirei Shigemori (1896–1975) was a modern Japanese landscape architect and historian of Japanese gardens. This museum used to be his own residence from 1943. He bought the property from Suzuka family which was the one of the families of Shinto priests serving Yoshida Shrine on a hereditary basis. Mirei re-created the garden and built a teahouse.
If you want to visit, you have to make a reservation in advance - +81 75 761 8776 - they accept only 15 people twice a day (11:00 and 14:00). The museum will be closed from 29 Dec-5 Jan.
In the evening - we walked around Gion - Geisha district where you can still enjoy the "old" houses along the streets.
Our dinner was at Gion Nishimura.
I am not going to show all the superb dishes but you might want to have a peek...
On the way back home, I found a small sweets which matches to the color of my chanel nail polish which I got from Diane x
Thanks for reading.
