CONGRATULATIONS AKI MIZUTANI ON HER ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATION

My friend Aki Mizutani at CUTTERS in Los Angeles, has been nominated for an Academy Award in Short Subject category for her work as editor on the documentary THE TSUNAMI AND THE CHERRY BLOSSOMS. The documentary directed by Lucy Walker, which tells the story of survivors in the areas hardest hit by Japan's recent tsunami who find the courage to revive and rebuild as cherry blossom season begins. A stunning visual poem about the ephemeral nature of life and the healing power of Japan's most beloved flower.

 

CUTTERS, which has been very supportive to me and my career over the years, is a commercial and features editorial house with office in Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Tokyo. Congratulation Aki, the trailer looks beautiful and I look forward to seeing the film soon.
