Issey Miyake: Pleats Please Taschen Book Launch Text by Eugene Rabkin

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Eugene Rabkin and I am the editor of StyleZeitgeist magazine and a new and honored addition to the ASVOF team. I will be reporting on the New York fashion and culture scene and beyond. Below is my first dispatch.

Last night I attended the launch of the Pleats Please book, published by Taschen, in Issey Miyake's Tribeca shop. It was an intimate experience in a stunning, Frank Gehry-designed space. The 512 page volume is itself intimate - for the first time Miyake allowed a photo crew into a Pleats Please production facility, a closely guarded secret. Beyond that, the volume is a comprehensive overview of one of the most innovative projects in fashion history.
