Merry Christmas from 1970s New York

Taxi-driver-travis-bickle-gun

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I invited Diane to my upcoming Christmas tree-trimming party but alas, she won't be in New York. She loved my dress code for the party, so I'm posting it here. The theme is "1970s New York."

Dress code (as always, it's inspired by the dress codes at Jackie 60 back in the '90s): Diana Vreeland Met Costume drama & rouged ears, Rhoda Morgenstern moxie, The Warriors war paint and torso-bearing leather vests, Up the Sandbox Barbra ball-busting, Boys in the Band bitchery, Mudd Club & Max’s Kansas City punk posturing, safety-pinned & ripped Richard Hell t-shirts, Studio 54 disco dolly decadence, Andy Kaufman Latka Gravas mechanic mayhem, Christopher Street leather man drag for butch lesbians, Truman Capote Studio stupor realness, Debbie Harry cheekbones & “Atomic” garbage-bag couture, Panic in Needle Park Kitty Winn wistfulness, Times Square drug dealer & funky pimp runway realness, Calvin Klein Quaalude-fueled cruising ensembles, Travis Bickle murderous mohawked man candy, Warhol entourage tranny transcendence, New York Dolls disheveled trashiness, CBGBs punk-rock heroin addict attitude, Bette Midler at the Continental Baths bawdiness, Laura Mars blood-splattered glamour, and gay hanky-code bandanas soaked in amyl nitrate.

Love,

Glenn Belverio
