Aitor Throup AW13 First RTW "New Object Research" text by Noemi Sebayashi

Dear Shaded Viewers,
I had to opportunity to take an upclose look at the work of Aitor Throup at the London Showrooms today. His work demonstrates a true leap forward in innovation and the process of design. Aitor spent 6 years developing an armhole. This was his first collection and we were all waiting for it for the past 8 years.
New:
‘New Object Research’ is dedicated to developing new and innovative objects.
Object:
‘New Object Research’ is about product design, not fashion design. The problem
solving process allows itself to focus on singular objects, rather than looks or
collections.
Research:
‘New Object Research’ is about designing processes rather than products. The
designer creates a conceptual framework that is often informed by a narrative.
The research dictates specific physical processes. The designer then purely
‘curates’ the product through strictly adhering to the process.
