CHRISTIAN WIJNANTS FALL WINTER 13/14 - TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI

Dear Shaded Viewers,

For his return to the Paris calendar, Christian Wijnants approached winter dressing in an upbeat and optimistic manner. Having recently won the prestigious International Woolmark Prize, he showed great knitwear pieces using shibori, a traditional Japanese dyeing technique. The collection had a sporty and relaxed charm, focusing on stylish separates. I loved his hand-shredded chiffon jackets, which were sophisticated, but lightweight, too. Color is a strong trend this season and Wijnants offered his own interpretation, focusing on brighter shades.

Finale at Rick Owens

Dear Shaded Viewers,

What I love the most about Rick Owens is he is Rick Owens and no one else. The collection was epic, smooth as glass, strong, modern and a breath of fresh air or was that mist.

The entire show will be uploaded, hopefully by tomorrow am.

Later,

Diane

Tabor and Villalobos at Cristina Grajales Gallery in NYC - Text and Images by Eugene Rabkin

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

Yesterday I got a sneak preview of the new installation of Graham Tabor and Miguel Villalobos at Cristina Grajales Gallery in SoHo. In the fashion world the creative duo is mostly known for their jewelery, 1-100, plenty of which was on display, including their rough-hewn yet elegant sterling silver bracelets and necklaces. But the star of the show was the whale skeleton made out of resin coated cardboard and paper. "When we were making it, we started with bastard materials," Tabor explained to me during the walkthrough. On view are also the duo's photographs, as well as their book Hic et Nunc.

The installation officially opens tomorrow and will go on through April 26th.

Best,

Eugene

MOGA E MAGO PRESENTS AURORA BOREALIS AW '13 COLLECTION AT BERLIN SHOWROOM IN PARIS MARCH 1-4TH

Scan1 9

AURORA BOREALIS AW`13

"With this season's `Aurora Borealis´ MOGA E MAGO follows a glass-skinned winter goddess through  surreal nordic scenery enlightened by psychedelically blazing polar lights and golden stars.

The colourful veil of an aurora borealis is epically blazing under the mystical depth of an inky polar sky. The mood of the light is fluctuating from cheerful abandon to gripping drama.

Psychedelic, colourful polar lights are caressing the glassy skin of a MOGA E MAGO winter goddess who seems to have them captured in her bewitching bright coloured fox-cape. Her inky dress is absorbing our minds. Her hands and arms are covered in black leather. Our gaze is imprisoned by golden rivets decorating her shoulders like caged stars.

Magical structures, shaped like air molecules, unseen before, are braking our reality like the air molecules in the sky are braking up the light to the unrecognizable wonder of AURORA BOREALIS."

'Aurora Borealis` focuses on eccentric bright furs embracing the psychedelic colours of the natural phenomenon of northern lights. Geometrically cut leather evening gowns as mystic as the black depth of a nordic polar night and deep black leather pieces adorned with air-molecule-structures and intricate leather chains connected by golden rivets sparkling like stars at the dark, clear and freezing winter sky complete this new MOGA E MAGO collection.
