Josep Abril, fall 2013 - text by Silvia Bombardini
Dear Shaded Viewers and Diane,
Josep Abril’s proposal for winter 2013 opened here in Barcelona to the moist, wild notes of S. Wilson’s Swampin soundscape. Blues and blacks, grays and earthy hues recalled the downy elegance of certain damp autumn nights, softened by the near transparence of ultralight knits, exposed seams and casual thread appliqués. Tighter lines on the muscles of shoulders, chest and midriff gave way to flapping overlong shirts and trousers, a slight tension of fabric and shape that was expertly mitigated by the soft comfortable touch of felt, flannels and boiled wools. A sort of peaceful awareness, determined and relaxed, in asymmetric cuts and side-parting hairstyles.
