FLORACULT (1): THREE DAYS UNDER THE SIGN OF NATURE & SUSTAINABILITY BY NUNZIA GAROFFOLO
The fourth edition of Floracult, the event created by the illuminated fashion designer of Carmina Campus and activist Ilaria Venturini Fendi featured many scents, colors, flavors and events all celebrating nature and was held in the Rome countryside, at La Storta, I Casali del Pino.
THis event surprises me every year wth new discoveries, successful meetings around a slow, conscious and sustainable lifestyle.
One of this marvelous happenings concerns my meeting with Stefano Mancuso, expert of vegetal neurology, director of LINV (International Laboratory of Vegetal Neurology) who featured in the book launch of “Verde brillante. Sensibilità e intelligenza del mondo vegetale(Bright green. Sensibility and intelligence of vegetal world)” he wrote.
I was amazed the cross pollination from one grass to another, a practice which generates an addiction of the insect. Another weird discovery concerned the relationship between a tree and the ants that are hosted and nourished by that tree, it's body contains ingredients that create addiction and make the ants more aggressive. In fact the ants fight against every (little or big) creature to protect the tree.
I talked hilariously to Stefano about the vegetal creatures that play a role of mistress and pushers. The sensitivity evidenced in the vegetal world like the mimosa pudica(“pudica” stands as “prudish”), a kind of mimosa which reacts to the touch of a hand.
Stefano modestly encourages the knowledge and its sharing I consider this to be one of the beautiful gifts that came out of Floracult.
“Rosa Sublime” book launch celebrates the family tradition of Vittorio Barni, the production and creation of new types of roses like the Mariangela Melato rose, a white rose that had been presented to the sister of the iconic Italian actress who passed away recently. Emma Bonino, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italian Government, the actress Isabella Ferrari and the director Lina Wertmuller all spoke about Mariangela Melato and her sense of freedom and which the white rose in her honor evokes.
One day under the sign of nature I was pleased to share with Myriam B., bright fashion designer and dear friend of mine along with other friends.
