MUTATE AW13 / DIEGO ZÚÑIGA

Twitback

The homonymous firm of the Mexican designer returns this Fall/Winter 2013 with MUTATE. The starting point is the beetle, an insect that throughout history has been an inspiration for industrial design, architecture and the military world. With eight all-black looks, MUTATE is characterized by oversize pieces, tailored quality and sporty touches. It surprises us with dynamic and original cuts, mesh details, and for the first time in the brand’s history there is a couple of functional accessories (cap and backpack) to create an outfit that reflects the concept perfectly. The collection? Wide-cut blazers with relaxed lapels, sweaters with wide sleeves, pants with big cargo-like pockets, and short wide pants. The textures reflect inspiration and are mixed with the designer’s characteristic black-over-black detail. The fortress, intellect, routine, and strength of the contemporary man is what emerges from this proposal from Zúñiga.

Ancient History posted by Joffrey Piarulli on FB

DP last year at film school
Last year at Film School, Temple University

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I just had an e mail from my friend Pierrot in NYC talking about a 'photo he saw of me, I had no idea what he was talking about until he told me he  saw it  on fb.  I think I was 25 or 26 at the time, a film student and before my current look of high hair, sunglasses and a veil and that is a pale grey jacket. This was when I met my first husband, he was a dentist and I went to get my teeth cleaned and fell in love in the process. Luckily it was mutual. You can read more about that in a year or so when my autobiography is completed.

NNorman Davids
Norman Davids, my first husband, married while I was in my last year of film school. I think that he is 30 or 31 here. I used to drive him crazy taking his picture. I cannot help it, I like to photograph people I love.It is like an addiction I guess.

Later,

Diane

Tziporah Salamon at Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week. By Glenn Belverio

P1010539

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I'm still here in Madrid with one of my fellow New Yorkers, fashion stylist Tziporah Salamon. Here she is in the Kissing Room (the VIP room where collection-themed Grey Goose cocktails are served and guests congratulate the designers on their shows). Tziporah told me a story about the scarf she's wearing: She was attending a Diane Pernet fashion show in 1986 and told a Japanese man, a stranger, that she loved the scarf he was wearing. He took it off and gave it to her and it's still one of her favorite scarves.

Hasta luego,

Glenn
