CHOCOLATE RECIÉN HECHO - MEXICO

I just found this vine of fresh chocolate being made in Mexico on my friend Pammela Rojas's twitter. Pamm is one half (with Rafael Marfil) of Mexico City based duo Shiro Schwarz. You might remember Pamm and Rafa from my post last summer here.

Enjoy.

I miss Mexico and I can't wait to go back.

Via México !

KOHLHAAS OR THE PORPORTIONALITY OF MEANS, DIRECTED BY ARON LEHMANN AND PRODUCED BY MIRIAM KLEIN - TRAILER

1013090_343703019094679_480510993_n

Here is the trailer for Aron Lehmann's KOHLHAAS OR THE PROPORTIONALITY OF MEANS, now out in cinemas in Germany. KOHLHASS, was produced by my good friend here in Berlin Miriam Klein, who I was introduced to though our mutual dear friend in Paris, Ottavia Palomba. The film has been playing many festival and doing quite well (find links below for more info) and is described is a very modern interpretation of Kleist's "Michael Kohlhaas", a classic in German literature.

"What happened here we shall record, though we must allow those who wish to question it the freedom to do so." -- Heinrich von Kleist

Deep in the Bavarian countryside Kleist's historical drama "Michael Kohlhaas" is being shot. But instead of shooting a huge epic with impressive costumes and extraordinary props, grown-up men in blue overalls and suits run through the woods and fight with imaginary weapons. What has happened?"

KOHLHASS is playing here in Berlin at http://bit.ly/HierImKino and here is a review on the film in English on twitchfilm.com, by Ben Umstead.

On Sept 9th Miriam informed me that there will be a special screening in Lichtblick Kino (with engl. subs) here in Berlin, in presence of Aron Lehmann, presented by EX BERLINER.

Today happens to be Miriam's birthday as well, so I am sending out a special digital HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISH TO YOU. Congratulations on the success of the film!

SLOW CULTURE GALLERY OPENS IN LOS ANGELES WITH RICK RODNEY: THE PRESENT PAST SHOW 08.02.13

My good friend Fred Guerrero from Maximiliano, Little Bear and The Oinkster, and his brother Max have a new gallery/project space which opens tonight 7-10PM in the Northeast Los Angeles neighborhood, Highland Park. It's called SLOW CULTURE GALLERY and here is what Fred has this to say about his latest project:

"We've invested so much into helping this community grow with our restaurants, that when the space became available, it seemed like a no brainer for us to acquire it.  Within the gallery's short history of 3 years, it had already established a reputation as being a vital piece of the Highland Park community.  The only reason we even took it over, is because of all the support from our friends here."

The gallery will open with a show by photographer Rick Rodney. Some images of the the show can be seen below.

FROM SLOW CULTURE GALLERY PRESS RELEASE:

"Slow Culture comes from the idea that the world and often our immediate surroundings are moving  too  fast, and enjoying culture and art require one to slow down, pause, and absorb. We  are  rebuilding the bones of what was once THIS Gallery, into a multi-‐purpose creative space. There will be a main art gallery with a carefully-‐constructed floor plan to allow for flexible programming options (exhibitons, lectures, workshops, meetings, pop-‐ups, etc). In addition to a project and gallery room, SLOW CULTURE will also consist of a retail and work space."

NATASHA GORNIK GIVES GOOD KINK

Please go check out Natasha Gornik at the first exhibition of her photography in Paris. Natasha is a Brooklyn based artist who describes herself as a professional Experiencer. For the past decade, she has been photographing the kink culture and capturing the dynamism of the individual through portraiture. Her photography is a visual journal of sexuality, her travels and the individuals that she meets along the way. Still life plays an important role in her work especially in contextualizing the more visceral images. Her goal is not to document but  capture the essence and experience of the scene through the camera. She also participates, making her images part of a personal narrative. Natasha's blog is a diaristic mix of my words and photography which are about food, fuck and a couple things in between. She has been included in numerous group exhibitions throughout the United States and her photography exists as limited edition fine art prints.
