PITOUR by Maria Oberfrank at MQ Vienna Fashion Week 2013. By Glenn Belverio

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Designer Maria Oberfrank describes her brand PITOUR as being "perfectly positioned between soberness and exuberance"--and this collection shown last month in Vienna, full of Apollonian graphic details and Dionysian drapey, sensual silhouettes, was exactly that.

For this collection, Oberfrank wanted to capture the atmosphere of summer: sun-drenched landscapes with sparkling colors and flowers. "The colour scale glows on dresses in a very different mentality," she tells me. "Colored ribbons divide the body into diagonal fractals, and arrange them symmetrically. Cut-outs provide current insights and perspectives."

MORE by Rankin

MORE by Rankin

teNeues Publishing,

Dear Shaded Viewers,

This month the British photographer Rankin will put together his finest work as a retrospective in a book publiished by teNeues. The book contains 300 color and duotone photographs. No doubt you know that Rankin is known for his portraits of celebrities of our generation. The book documents twenty years of his work and is organized by themes, including nudes, portraits, beauty, fashion and myths. Myths is a collaboration with artist Damien Hirst showing a contemporary interpretation of ancient mythical monsters.

"I am aware that my work is often a little bit uncomfortable, a bit strange, a bit challenging. I consider many of my pictures of the more famous people almost as 'anti-celebrity' get them off the pedestal, get them face-to-face, see the real person inside. ...If you look at that part of my work, it's levelling." said Rankin-

The book will be available in hardcover this month for  € 98 $ 125 £ 70 ISBN 978-3-8327-9708-9. In addition there is a limited edition of 100 copies, clamshell box, title hand-written on the jacket by Rankin, Portfolio with a signed and numbered photo print. You can pre-order before December 31st for 1,750 EUR or after for 2,000 EUR.

Later,

Diane

Silhouette 's new version of the FUTUR shade

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Futura sunglasses were launched in 1974. The designer DOra Demmel see's the FUTURA  as a perfect commercial-move and not as a sunglass for everyday. Suddenly FUTURA sunglasses are popping up everywhere , magazines, store windows and do you remember them in the softporn film Emanuelle? As 2014 is the 40th anniversary of the FUTURA shade, Silhouette created a new version of the iconic classic.

Magical mystery tour with Diane & visiting other friends in Paris last month. Text & most photos by Glenn Belverio

Above: No trip to Paris is complete without Champagne and Diane Pernet at Cafe de Flore on the Rive Gauche.

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Last month I was holidaying in Europe and I spent a glorious week in the City of Light visiting friends. The highlight of my trip was a magical mystery tour with Diane...and then there were all the stolen moments I had with old and new friends, not to mention one or two rencontres érotiques

P1010389

On one particulary muggy yet brilliant afternoon, I walked from the Hôtel de NELL where I was staying to Diane's chic address in the 7th arrond. I passed through the Place de la Concorde, as one does during such a walk, and it was as magical as I remembered it from four years ago.

Diane at ASVOFF HQ with her Casablancas and NASA space view looming behind her.....she is looking even younger than when I last saw her: Barcelona, Summer 2010. We caught up on all the news and laughs as I fanned myself with my Amanda Lear Chinese dance fan.

Me & Diane's reflection out on her curved street....I brought some Keith Haring old-skool New York City realness back to Diane...
